About Us
We emerged from the Agrarian Reform in Honduras, Legally founded, with legal status on May 7, 1970. Promoted by the Jesuit priest Jaime Prasdezaba.
The Jesuit priest Jaime Prasdezaba, who put in our hands a futuristic organization free of individualistic profit; left us an organization of equitable benefits, for which today we enjoy as a living testimony of peace and tranquility, each of the 60 families that make up the Salamá Limited Cooperative, of which 51 are men and 9 are women. Our Regulations and Bylaws are governed by the Law of Cooperatives of Honduras and we are guided by the advice of CONSUCOOP. We are also affiliated to AIPAH (Association of Palm Oil Producers of Honduras). FENAPALMA and U.N.C (Unión Nacional de Campesinos).
We are dedicated to the production of palm oil and the maquila of crude oil CPO and PKO complying with the best quality standards of crude oil. We are currently certified with the sustainability and carbon standard ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS, as well as we are in the process of certification with the RSPO standard.
Another area in which we work
Another area that we exploit, but on a smaller scale is livestock, which has been working on improving the herd in the dairy line, starting with a considerable breeding stock, so that in a few years we will have purebred animals or at least seven-eighths, since the stallions we have are almost purebred, at the same time we have been inseminating to achieve our goal as soon as possible.
Founded on May 7, 1970, it celebrated its 53rd anniversary on May 7, 2023. 53 years of promoting the development of its affiliates, its collaborators, its producers and in general to the entire department of Colón. A thank you to all of you for trusting our Cooperative and for feeling the pride of being born in this beautiful Municipality of Tocoa, the City of Palm Trees.
We are a product of the Agrarian Reform, an example of prosperity, equality, equity, unity, humility, solidarity, struggle, perseverance, development, innovation, adaptation to change, sustainability and social projection.
